Intricate Jat hand embroidered cushion cover by Raziyabai Kasam, Kutch.
Raziyabai has carefully embroidered the fabric using hand dyed colourful Kala Cotton yarn in bold primary tones. In black cotton facade which is lined with deep blue Cotton fabric. Envelope style cushion cover piping on the edges.
Features include Jat minute mirrors and cotton yarn cross stitching throughout.

THE STORY:
The precise embroidery of the Garasia Jat community is made up of tiny counted cross stitches and usually incorporates minute mirrors.
Garasia Jats are an Islamic farming and cattle herding tribe in Kutch. Their ancestors are believed to have been nomadic herders who originated in Central Eurasia and over centuries migrated to Kutch.
Raziyabai has been part of Kala Raksha who has played a crucial role in providing knowledge and skills directly relevant to the artisan’s traditional art, while honouring and strengthening her tradition.
